Default Hard Starting When Cold

I have a 1995 Wrangler 2.5 runs great when it is warm outside. It will crank and crank when temperature outside is cold. There is no spark until the check engine light comes on then will start. The battery is nearly dead at this point. Ideas???

Fool it with a block heater.

Check your oil. Too thick, or too dirty will cause a hard start.

Is the Jeep cranking over normally? or is it a slow crank?

Check your spark plug gaps as well.

Default Pumping Accelerator to start not normal!

I just bought a 1987 Wrangler 4.0 and every time I have to start it I have to pump the accelerator a lot and even then it won't idle for about a minute or so. Could this problem be solely the carberator? Could it be the choke or the float? Tell me guys, what has your experience told us about this problem.
